6.17 & 6.18 THE END
I can't believe it's over. I just watched it for the second time. I feel like the world has gone on to the next thing, like at the end of "The Truman Show" but I'm still sitting here sad, touched and content with Lost ending.
I can't even begin to know where to start. There are so many little nuances that I want to touch on and I don't want to forget to say anything in my last post.
The finale was beautiful. This was the perfect ending to the best show to ever air on television. I remember when I first started watching Lost. In reruns here in Egypt when they were in season 2 in the US. One thing that I remember sticking out was how amazing and epic the pilot was. The continuity on Lost impressed me when Jin had half a handcuff on his wrist for an entire season. It only got more detailed and they made me love these characters, cry with them, laugh with them but most of all made me think. I've never felt this way about any show or movie and I doubt I will again. Lost was history making and will go down as one of the top shows of all time.
Now, thoughts on the final episode. I was so glad to see Vincent, Rose and Bernard were ok and for that matter, Frank and Richard lived on as well. I loved Jack's "it's a surprise" I don't know how he knew that pulling that stone out would make NotLocke mortal or why Jacob never did it. Maybe he couldn't or wouldn't kill his own brother after what he did to him.
I had to laugh when Kate jumped the gun, no pun intended and started shooting at NotLocke. Desmond and Ben drop to the ground! Glad she did save that bullet though. The fight scene between Jack and NotLocke was awesome and I'm not a big fight scene type of person. Jack leaping through the air at Smokey was really cool.
Glad Desmond made it out of the light cave thing alive and that Hurley, the new, new Jacob, was set on getting him home. Mathew Fox's performance when the light came back on was so great. I was cry-laughing with him. Hurley asking Ben to be his helper was really touching. All Ben ever wanted was some leadership on the island.
I wanted to tell Miles that I too believe in the power of duct tape. It's just so handy when repairing airliner hydrolics. I was lollers when Claire was like "look at me I'm crayyyzeee"
In the Sideways, I kinda thought David would be playing at this concert thing but I guess it was just Faraday/Whidmore and DriveShaft. I was also "grinning like a sodding idiot" when Hurley couldn't contain his Charlie love at the motel door!
When Juliet was the obgyn I was sure she was David's mother. But that was before I found out David doesn't really exist. Anyway, Sun and Jin remembering was so emotional. All of the realizations everyone had were so wonderfully done. When Claire had Aaron and Kate remembered I was blubbering about the revelation and the birth at once. When Kate said "Thank You" to Charlie and he goes "It's just a blanket" I felt she was thanking him for his sacrifice on the island. It was poetic. James and Juliet got me too. It answers what "it worked" and going dutch were all about. James repeating "I got you" was so sweet after how he lost her. Now I was never a big fan of Sayid and Shannon but that was a twist since we all expected it to be Nadia.
Jack seemed to have had a few flashes that he kind of brush off, when seeing John healed and when meeting Kate at the concert. The culmination all coming to an end at the church when Christian explains to Jack and all of us what's happened was like time stood still in my world. I sat there, mouth agape, staring and realizing that the Sideways was a sort of waiting place, unbound by time, space and from Jack's point of view to help him let go. It was a great sort of reunion moment coinciding with Jack's death on the Island. Passing the sneaker that was there after the crash, lying in the bamboo, Vincent by his side and the beautiful symmetrical ending with Jack's eye closing and with it Lost ending forever.
I will miss this show so much. The characters mostly and how they all found redemption and love. Lost will live forever though. There are still many things to be debated and that are left open to interpretation. It was like no other show and It will be hard to ever match such an outstanding team of writers, producers, and actors again. Not to mention the amazing musical score which has been playing in my head all day. Long Live Lost!

6.16 What They Died For
I can't believe in less than a week it'll be all over. This episode set up the series finale up really well. I loved the Island and the sideways stuff.
Jack got that same little cut on his neck that he had in LA X. He and David are so buddy buddy now. I suppose Claire will go to the concert as well. I'll bet David's mother is Juliet. Miles will convince Sawyer to go and she'll ask James to coffee! I wonder if/how Jin/Sun and John will go? I can't wait! It's a little bitter sweet but exciting!
Kate made me well up when she talked about Ji Yeon. Sawyer really looked like he felt horrible about the deaths. When young Jacob came to Hurley about the ashes, I didn't get why he was young then old, then everyone could see him. Hmm. Anyway, I thought Jacob's explanation
didn't really explain what the light or the heart of the island is or does. It was kind of a given that Jack would be the one. I don't know if he will or can kill NotLocke and what Desmond will do. I hate when people on the show call him Locke. It's not Locke, its NotLocke! So Kate was crossed of because she became a mother, but its just a line of chalk in a cave. So I guess Jin was the the candidate then.
Ben getting pummeled by Desmond again was a little funny. Locke changing his mind made me happy. I love that eye twinkly smile he has and I hope he walks! Ben and Russau was a nice twist! Even a kidnapping joke! Ben tearing up over being a father figure to Alex. It's all coming together!
I loved Desmond pulling strings in the alternate reality! Kate seemed a little too smiley in that van though. Ana Lucia as a dirty cop, figures. Seems Hurley has full memory of the island. It seems Kate should shut up and get in the car because a dress and a concert's gotta be better than county jail.
Is Richard dead? I hope not. Hopefully Smokey was just getting him out of his way? That's no way for such a major character to go.
So Ben's back on the dark side? Or is he conning NotLocke? He promised him that he could have the Island then he told him that he's planning to destroy it. So why would Ben help him now?
Bye Zoe, we won't miss you. I'll miss Widmores voice/accent but that's about it.
Who let Des out of the well? Did Sayid give him a rope? But he said that Des was in the well. Maybe it was Miles? or Claire. Where's she been? Left behind again? Jack and them were still at the river I think. Will the walkie talkies have a role?
Funny lines :
- Miles: "Is this a secreter room?"
- Sawyer:"You thought that guy had a God complex before.."
- Miles: "Good luck with that!"
Well It's 5 days away and I'm sure I'll post the last post a little late. 2 and a half hours, well probably 2 without commercials but YAY! Till then!

6.15 Across The Sea
I wasn't crazy about most of this episode but I love Lost so I'll take what I can get. I had to laugh at "Every question I answer will simply lead to another question." The episode was very vague, they didn't tell us how she got there or who those other people were or how Jacob and MIB came to play the game of free will vs evil.
We still have no name for MIB. He must have one. I came away feeling bad for him, even if he killed his "mom". We know that they are twin brothers.(Melissa, you were right!) We found out how Smokey came along and who Adam and Eve were. We also found out when and how the donkey wheel got there but not how it got frozen. I wonder why MIB didn't leave via that, later. The actors who played Jacob and MIB looked a lot like Mark Pellegrino and Titus Welliver, and that kid who was looking at MIB in past episodes was definitely young Jacob. The woman who played Claudia, their real mother was gorgeous. I guess MIB can see dead people, he's special. That's why he was weirded out when Sawyer could see young Jacob.
There's not a lot more to talk about because I feel like not that much else happened. We got some big, long awaited answers though.

6.14 The Candidate
Wow. This episode was incredible. I don't think I've cried so much at Lost since Charlie died. It was really sad but also really well acted and kept us on the edge of our seats. The last 15 minutes I had my hand over my mouth or sobbing.
So when Lock didn't want the surgery I thought he just didn't believe it would work. I love him and Helen. Jack waking up in that outrigger and Sayid saying "at least you didn't have to paddle" was funny. Widmore putting them in the cages seems like it was for their own good after all.
Bernard definitely seems like he's seen the other reality. The way he kept smiling and calling him "Jack" not Dr. Shepard. How he told him his first name, and how he remembered Anthony Cooper so well. I missed Bernard. I wonder if they'll ever address the retired Island Rose & Bernard.
Jack kept saying that he wasn't leaving the Island. I feel like he might be the new Jacob. So glad Smokey killed Dough boy a.k.a. Chip from Kate & Ally.
In the place where Anthony Cooper lived, the intercom called ext. 23. They always have to use the numbers. I don't know why I felt a little bad for him. He was obviously still the jerk he was before but he just never got a chance to royally screw John over. James has been looking for him and he's right there in LA.
I loved how NotLocke is bulletproof and walks right to the plane and breaks the guy's neck and shoots the other one. He had this all planned and knew the C-4 was on the plane because he took the watch off that guy before going up those bamboo steps and walking right to where it was.
Sayid tells them that the guy's neck is broken and if anyone knows broken necks it's Sayid.
When Sawyer told Jack to get NotLocke in the water, Jack said, you saw what he did back there. I think it means that Locke can't turn into the smoke monster when wet.
John was having a bleed through reality dream. Claire didn't sit or get up like a pregnant woman at all. The catch a falling star music box was to maybe jog her memory of him singing it to her as a baby. It was cute when Jack said, "we're not strangers, we're family". The flight 815 weirdness must have him really freaked by now!
When they were all huddled by the sub, NotLocke let Saywer call the shots and they played right into his hands. I did love Jack pushing NotLocke into the water in John's name.
I was shocked when Kate was shot and I thought she was gone but, nope. Claire just wouldn't listen to anyone calling her on to the sub and then she cries "they're leaving us!" Left behind again.
Jack was right about the bomb this time but Sawyer couldn't trust him again after last time. If they just let it run out it wouldn't have blown up just like the dynamite didn't with Richard.
Sayid's heroic noble death totally redeems him. It was really sad but he went out like the badass that he is. I loved "It's going to be you, Jack" So confirmation that Des is alive and very important.
Frank's a goner too. "Aw, Hell" Another poignant line was Jack's frantic "There is no Sayid!"
The rest was just so sad and I was watching through tears since Sayid died. A lot of people are saying why didn't Sun tell Jin to go and raise their daughter. First of all I think it was unspoken when she told him "You have to go". They didn't have to say it, or maybe it was too hard to even say the words. I don't think Jin could physically bring himself to leave her. Plus he probably didn't think he had a good chance of getting out in time anyway. There was no more oxygen and no guarantee that he'd live to get off the island and see Ji Yeon at all. This scene was just heartbreaking.
In the alt. reality, John didn't look to happy to see Jack and wanted out of there. The fact that he caused his father's vegetative state is sad but he doesn't know what old Anthony had planned for him. There was a moment of recognition when Jack said "I wished you believed me"
If I wasn't crying enough Hurley sobbing killed me. Jack's too. It was like they all were not only crying for the one's who died but about everything that's happened.
John seems like he knew they weren't all dead as if he knew that if they were, something would happen with him. Like he'd be suddenly free or something. I wonder if he's going after Desmond or Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley.
I really thought this episode was the best all season. It was gripping and exciting and yes, sad but this is it, guys. It's almost over.

6.13 The Last Recruit
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------
I really like the feel of this episode. It felt very season finale-ish. The end is near!
When Locke told Jack he "looked like" Christian I'm not sure I believed him. I don't know it's the Christian telling Micheal on the freighter that he was free now that's confusing me. The Jack/Claire "we're brother and sister" thing was a little awkward but I suppose it would be. How did Claire know Jack was her brother? See she said to Jin that she'd been with her father and her friend(Locke) so what gives?
Flash Sideways Sun totally recognized Locke as NotLocke as kind of a bleed through. She seemed afraid of him so it wasn't John she'd remembered. I really like alternate Ben. Seems very nice. I knew Jack would end up fixing John, and I'm gonna say he's probably going to really fix him. He'll walk again, I predict.
Sideways Desmond is coming off as a bit of a creeper. Stalking Claire like that. She didn't think that was weird. It's very Jacob like though. Zuleikha Robinson cleans up nice. I still want to know why Elana was bandaged up.
Sawyer and Kate with the matching leather jackets were cute, they're definitely not true loves. She did look great in that scene though.
Sayid. Sayid, Sayid, Sayid. I felt so bad for him and his zombie self this episode. I don't think he killed Desmond. They'd show that. There's hope for Sayid yet. Did you see that look he gave NotLocke after he told him he did kill him? He's got a plan and he took so long because he got Des out of the well.
I'm really sick of Zoe. What we're capable of? Has she seen smokey in action?! When Hurley asked Sawyer who that was I half expected him to say "Liz Lemon".
Claire is still very odd and I hope she can be redeemed. Maybe when NotLocke is killed, hopefully by Sayid or Desmond, all of his followers revert back to themselves. I really kind of felt bad for Claire when they left her but she needs to remember they didn't abandon her! I thought she was gonna kill Kate but she seemed to calm down.
I knew Widmore would renig. He's not that nice. Sawyer didn't deliver on his end of the bargain anyway, plus now Charles doesn't have Desmond, but really he should have kept a better eye on him!
Sun and Jin!!! I'm sure everyone, as did I, thought they'd get fried by the pylons a la Mikhail. It kind of ruined the moment but not much. I love those two and I'm glad they didn't keep that reunion till the finale, it's gonna be too busy.
I'm glad Sun and her baby are ok int Alt. universe too. Sayid fell for that old Tom & Jerry, trip on hose trick.
Now when that explosion went off and Jack was all messed up, I got the feeling that he'd died and Smokey "claimed" him just then. Just like I think Claire did in New Otherton and Sayid did. That's why NotLocke said "You're with me now", ever so creepily.
What's up with Richard, Ben and Miles?
Funny lines, Hurley to Claire "You look...Great." "That pilot who looks like he walked off a Burt Reynolds movie"
No Lost next week. :(

6.12 Everybody Loves Hugo
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
----------------------------------------
I really liked this episode, but Hurley-centric eps are always good. I loved the Man of The Year video! And Pierre Chang! Hugo's mom is always funny.
I wasn't at all expecting to see Harold Perrineu, I don't look at the credits or anything to make sure I'm not spoiled. It was good to see Micheal but I kinda thought the whispers reveal was a given.
Loved Hurley and Libby, they're so sweet together.
Desmond hitting Locke, now was that him pulling a Charlie, trying to get him to see the other side or was it revenge because he was aware of his alternate self, and he'd thought it was Locke who pushed him down a well?
Elana going boom was kinda funny, sorry, Elana, she kept throwing those water bottles onto the unstable dynamite and well, yea, I guess the Island was done with her, as Ben said.
I kinda hated that Miles went with Richard. I like Richard but Miles, man, where's the loyalty? Jack's been down right likable this season. He's learned humility and I think it was good that they addressed Jack's guilt about Juliet.
I thought the way NotLocke reacted to the island boy, (who by the way, did he look older this time? And what was with that smile?) was interesting. He seemed a little afraid of him. He also didn't like how not scared Desmond was.
He can't die, man, How's he gonna get out of that well? Christian? Jacob?
I think it was cool and brave of Hurley blowing up the Black Rock and saying they should go face NotLocke, but I hate that they all keep calling him Locke. Giving John Locke a bad name! NotLocke and Jack exchanged a weird look, I think it's the first time he's seen him and damn, Sun just misses Jin. Will Jack tell Claire they're related? I miss the real Sayid! At least Jack got the info from Dogen that those two aren't the same.
What was in that little bag of Elana's that Hurley found? Was it Jacob's ashes? What is he gonna do with them?

6.11 Happily Ever After
What the hell just happened? I'll tell you what. Television history. Man, I'm gonna miss this show.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm thinking that being close to death lets you see into the other timeline. Just before Juliet kicked it, she said "Let's meet for coffee", Charlie saw Claire when he almost choked to death.
It's Minkowski ! Your super helpful driver! Minus the nose bleeds. He seemed...weird, like he knew something. It's always the driver. Like with Locke & Abadon.
When Charlie put his hand up to Des in the window, under water, I got chills.
In what universe am I rooting for Widmore agains "Locke" and Sayid?! I liked his approval, nay, love of Desmond in the alt. time line. By the way the painting in his room...A scale with black and white stones.
I don't like Zoe.
Daniel's epiphany was enthralling. I missed him! I love how seeing Charlotte was like his link. Maybe like a constant.
Eloise and her old lady afro freak me out. She knows about the alternate universe, it's like she had part in designing it. "You have a perfect life, everything you ever wanted" (paraphrasing). It really feels like we made a lot of headway in this episode.
So what's Des going to do with the manifest? Find Claire for Charlie? Show the other Lostees the light? How will he know which ones? Or that the flight has to do with it?
What is it about Desmond & Penny that is just so magical? I love their story. I hope he doesn't faint again and miss their coffee meeting. Maybe Sawyer will meet Juliet for some too? It also looks like a lot of them are at the same hospital. Claire, Sayid, Sun will be going...Time will tell.
I don't think Desmond is really going to go along with Sayid. He knew he had to do what Whidmore needed him to do.
